SLYMI began with a simple idea: to create a local community choir where adults could sing great music, meet new people and feel part of something.
There would be no auditions and no need for previous choir experience. Just a welcoming room, brilliant songs and the chance to sing together.
We knew there was an appetite for something different—but we weren't expecting nearly 80 people to arrive for our first rehearsal.

Many of our members hadn't sung properly since school before joining us.
Everything is taught by ear, so you can simply turn up, join in and build your confidence as you go.
