What to expect

New is allowed
to feel new.

You don’t have to arrive feeling confident. You only have to arrive.

Someone will meet you for a quick hello and explain the session before you begin. There are no newcomer tests, no awkward introductions and no pressure to perform alone.

Everything is learned together by ear. You can listen, join in and build confidence at your own pace.

Questions are welcome

Before you
book.

Do I need to audition?

No. There are no auditions and you will never be asked to sing on your own.

Do I need to read music?

No. Everything is taught by ear during the rehearsal.

What if I haven’t sung since school?

You’ll be in very good company. Many SLYMI members felt exactly the same before their first night.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely. Lots of members do, and Andy or his wife will be ready to welcome you.

Can I join during a term?

Yes. You can join part-way through and will only pay for the remaining sessions in that payment period.

What if I miss a session?

Fees reserve your place for the payment period, so missed sessions are not refundable.

How old do I need to be?

SLYMI is for adults aged 18 and over.

Is the room accessible?

The function room is upstairs and unfortunately there is no lift. Please contact us if you’d like to discuss access before booking.

Ready to give it a go?

One free night.
No pressure.

Come to a rehearsal, meet everyone and sing with us for the evening.
