These terms apply to membership of Sing Like You Mean It (SLYMI). By paying membership fees and continuing to attend, you agree to them. If anything is unclear, please ask before paying.
This is a practical first version for the choir and should be reviewed if SLYMI’s payment arrangements, venues or legal structure change.
SLYMI is open to adults aged 18 and over. No audition, previous choir experience or ability to read music is required. Membership is subject to available space and these terms.
A prospective member’s first session is free. After the taster, there is no obligation to join. Continued attendance requires the appropriate half-termly or termly payment.
Membership costs £50 when paid half-termly or £90 when paid termly. Fees are payable in advance and reserve your place for that payment period. Members joining part-way through a payment period will pay only for the remaining sessions.
Fees are not refundable or transferable when a member misses a rehearsal. If SLYMI cancels a rehearsal and cannot offer a suitable replacement, a credit or proportionate refund may be offered.
If you buy membership online or away from our usual premises, you may have a legal 14-day cancellation right. If you ask to start attending during that period and then cancel, SLYMI may deduct a fair amount for sessions already provided. This does not affect your statutory rights.
SLYMI normally runs for 30 Wednesday rehearsals each year, broadly following school terms. Dates, venues, timings, repertoire, events and personnel may occasionally change. Members will be given reasonable notice whenever possible.
Members may choose not to renew at the end of a paid period. If exceptional circumstances mean you need to leave during a paid period, please contact SLYMI; any credit or refund is considered individually and is not guaranteed.
Members are expected to treat one another, the SLYMI team, venue staff and guests with respect. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, threatening behaviour or conduct that seriously disrupts rehearsals may result in membership being ended without refund.
Members take part at their own pace and should tell SLYMI about anything relevant to their safe participation. The current rehearsal room is upstairs and has no lift. Members are responsible for their belongings and for following reasonable safety instructions at rehearsals, studios, performances and events.
Concerts, studio sessions, songwriting camps, music videos and charity projects are optional unless clearly stated otherwise. Places may be limited and may involve separate rehearsal, travel, ticket, clothing or production arrangements, which will be explained in advance.
SLYMI regularly photographs, films and records rehearsals, performances and studio projects for releases, publicity, social media and the website. We will make members aware when planned filming or recording is taking place. Anyone with a concern should contact us before participating so reasonable arrangements can be discussed.
Arrangements, learning tracks, lyrics, rehearsal notes and other member materials are provided for personal SLYMI use. They must not be copied, shared publicly, sold or used by another group without written permission. Music remains subject to the rights of its writers, publishers and other copyright owners.
Contact and membership details are used to administer rehearsals, payments, events and SLYMI communications. Information will be handled responsibly and will not be sold. A fuller privacy notice will be provided separately.
Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited. Otherwise, members participate voluntarily and SLYMI is not responsible for indirect loss, personal belongings, or loss caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control. These terms do not affect your statutory rights.
